Acupuncture - Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) having been practised for thousands of years. This ancient practice is one thread of the overall system of Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture looks at the overall picture of disharmony treating the symptoms as well as looking for the root cause of the issue. The concept of acupuncture is based on the smooth flow of Qi through meridians in the body. If Qi flow is interrupted for some reason this can lead to blockages and disharmonies which can result in pain or illness.

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body with sterilised, single use, needles. The aim is to tonify and release blocked Qi and assist with the body’s own healing ability to restore the systems to balance.

Abdominal Acupuncture targets the body’s abdominal micro system. All major meridians and Qi (energy) pass through this area. The body’s systems can be stimulated through these abdominal points, each point having slightly different benefits to the next. Abdominal acupuncture is a standalone treatment and is used to treat a variety of concerns including anxiety, emotional issues, digestive problems, pain and many more. The treatment uses non-invasive needle insertion with gentle stimulation so it’s ideal for those who are a touch ‘needle shy’
