Cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy where glass, plastic or bamboo cups are applied to the skin to create a suction action. The underlying tissue and skin is raised or sucked partway into the cup targeting specific acupressure points in the body. The benefits of cupping therapy include; Stimulation of blood circulation, metabolism and lymph flow, detoxification, regulation of energy pathways, and stimulation of organ reflex zones on the skin, strengthening and detoxification of the connective tissue and loosening strained and painful muscles. Cupping can cause the skin to temporarily turn red, blue or purple, usually dependent on an underlying injury or blockage in the area. The skin marks can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
